MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – September 14, 2009 5:00 PM

Selectmen Present:       Eric R. Munson, Jr., Steven DellaGiustina and Thomas Paine

Also Present:  Jeffrey LaCasse, Joanne Duval and Susan Voudren

Jeff LaCasse of Colebrook River Road asked if the bad trees in front of his property are earmarked for removal?

Jeff felt that the town’s lawn may be getting cut excessively. Fiscal 08 and Fiscal 09’s invoices will be compared and contract looked at.

Susan Voudren requested permission to create a Tattler for the month of October. It will be a small issue with only important items and events.

Joanne Duval, Dog Officer mentioned to the board that she had been called to retrieve a dog eight times. She had been approached by a town resident to adopt the dog. The Town of Sandisfield has handled this type of issue through their Board of Selectmen. Joanne will discuss the adoption of the dog with the present owner.

The Department of Public Works cut two trees in front of her property on Burt Hill Road. Will they be cleaning up and removing the cut downs left behind. Trees will be discussed with Wayne Carr.

Joanne is requesting that a letter be written to Verizon and the Governor requesting that DSL be available to the remaining Tolland residents.

Discussed the status of purchasing a Chipper for the Department of Public Works and the temporary hiring of an additional person to help with the removal of the debris from the December Ice Strom. Also, the Board of Selectmen discussed the replacement of the town’s Department of Public Works half ton truck. The truck has several cracks in the frame. Options will be discussed with Wayne Carr at the next board meeting, September 21, 2009.

The Board of Selectmen is requesting that the Finance Committee meet on a monthly basis. Chairman, Ralph Ledger will be notified of the request.

Reviewed Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the architect selection. A copy will be given to legal counsel.

Selectboard requested an update on the land clearing of the town’s property. The project will move forward after the Special Permit appeals date is over. The date of letter will come from the Town Clerk and should be received after the 21st of September.
